The Movement Space 2005 is a retreat exploring movement, spirit and everyday life
with Kate Jobe, MA, CMA, RSMT
August 26 - 29, 2005 Yachats, on the Oregon Coast

Announcing The Movement Space, a place to learn new methods for movement exploration based on the latest developments by Arny and Amy Mindell in process work, process oriented movement work, Laban Movement Analysis, and Authentic Movement.

Movement is a tremendous resource to guide us in living our full creative selves, making concrete decisions, finding spiritual direction and enhancing psychological and personal growth. We will explore a variety of methods to find riches in the most mundane movement impulse, in the energies behind movement difficulties and in other magical moments of moving.
We will focus on the following topics:

  • Finding the gold in your limitations and movement difficulties.
  • Following the path to your life myth through movement: sleeping and waking dreams about movement open the way to unexpected directions in life.
  • Bringing your whole self into your workouts: noticing and unfolding unwanted, unexpected or irrelevant-seeming experiences exercise or movement practices.
  • Sentient movement, Authentic Movement and the quest for That Which Moves You: following the spirit that moves you and getting its message.
  • Integrating movement's treasures into your everyday life.

Each day will begin with a movement exploration focusing on a core principle such as breath, core support, mobility and flexibility. This will be followed by individual work in the center of the group as well as dyad exercises where we will use Process Work to unfold individual movement experiences deepening their meaningfulness in relationship to spiritual and psychological growth. In the afternoon we will start with time to explore how the spirit is moving you using Authentic Movement or Sentient Movement practices followed by individual processes in the center of the group, dyad work or group movement work and creativity.

This retreat is for experienced movers and beginners alike who are seeking connections among their movement, body experience, spiritual life and everyday experience. Come join us explore the full spectrum of movement's enchantment and mystery.
