ITP series - Integral Transformative Practice is both a general category and a specific cultural innovation which fits well with the criteria defining the general category. (For example, the wide range of esoteric practices addressing the need for balanced development of mind, body, heart, and spirit which were part of the ancient Chinese tradition of Taoism, when taken all together, constitute "integral transformative practice" and can lead to suprisingly radical improvements in human functioning on all levels.) The specific practices promoted in this series of audio and video tapes represent the "condensed best of Esalen" ie., the best practices observed by Michael Murphy and George Leonard during their 30+ years leading the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California and in their travels worldwide honed and melded to "cover all the bases" in a very compact 45 minute routine which they describe as a "householder's path". This means that it is a path of development which could be pursued by an ordinary person with a family and a nine-to-five job (as opposed to an ascetic yogi or monk who retreats from the world of popular culture). Included in this series are tapes by a whole range of doctors, and other leaders - in sports, the arts, and other realms of human endeavor where people have achieved extraordinary feats through disciplines which integrate mind and body and free their practitioners from the limits of conventional belief systems and consensus reality.
